ELA Class

In ELA, we are currently learning about poetry and how to use different forms of writing in our poems. We have learned about different things such as alliteration, which are a sound device, metaphor, allusion and etc. Alliteration is when you have two or more words in a row that start with the same letter or sound at the beginning of the words. An example would be fast and furious. Metaphors are a figure of speech in which a term of phrase is applied to something to make it sound similar to something else. Allusion is a form of writing in which you make a small reference to a person, place or something that happened. An example would be the title of a song that most people know as Beauty and a Beat. It makes a small reference to the old fairy tale, Beauty and a Beast. In ELA, we have gotten an assignment to make four poems. We have to make two haiku's, one concrete and one regular poem.

In ELA, we also have been assigned to make a plan for a story that we would write in the future if we wanted to. The plan consists of the regular topics such as setting, characters, plot, problem and solution. We have also received a handout for character development. We got a handout for what we should do if we ever wanted to write a novel with chapters. It tells us what each chapter should be about and what we should try to include in them. This so far, doesn't have a due date but we are going to get a couple of classes to work on it so it should be fun.
