In Social Studies, we are going to have a test on what we have learned so far. The test has been scheduled for Thursday, October 24, 2013, right before the long weekend. It will be on pages 28-37 of our textbook. Ms. Costanzo has given us booklets and sheets to help us study, such as the module sheets, the textbook definition sheet, and the Food Gatherers booklet. According to Ms. Costanzo's wiki (
link), it will include the following:
- True and False questions
- Multiple Choice
- Fill in the Blanks
- Concept Questions (explain and write about a topic)
The test shouldn't be too difficult if you have studied and reviewed your handouts and notes.
There is a lot of things you should know for the test. You should know about the Stone Ages; Paleolithic, from the years 2.5 million-12,000 years ago; Mesolithic, from 12,000-10,000 years ago; and Neolithic , which was 10,000-5,500 years ago. You will also need to know the stages of human development,
homo habilis (2.5 million-1.5 million years ago),
homo erectus (1.5 million-250,000 years ago), and
homo sapiens. You probably need to know the two kinds of homo sapiens, the Neanderthals (first found near Neander River in Germany in the year 1857) and the Cro-Magnons (named after a cave in France in which their remains were first found). You should review your vocabulary on the definition sheet, and read the picture captions in the textbook. Dates are pretty important in Social Studies, and memorization and being to explain things is key. There is much material to study for this test, so it is better to study beforehand than to cram it all in today, or the day before.
