ICT
In ict class we are starting to use career cruising to do work sheets. We have already done worksheet 1 and 2 in which we had to find out about some careers, of our choice, using the web site. Worksheet 3 is due today and some of the things we had to find out are the central aspects of the career, which secondary and central aspects did you like very much, which did you dislike if there were any at all, e.t.c

The career I chose for the first page is a surgeon and for the second a chiropractor. I think that there are some advantages to using career cruising. The website does a questionnaire for you which shows you what jobs are most suitable for you. When you pick a job career cruising shows you a way to get education for the job, and which courses to take. It is useful for those people who do not know what courses to take for a job they want to do, or people who don’t know what they want to be in life. Over all this is a great website that adds a lot of value into your life

ELA Persuasive Writing and Paraphrasing!

ELA Persuasive Writing and Paraphrasing

In ELA, a few days ago, we did some worksheets that deal with persuasive writing and we also looked over a piece from Abraham Lincoln, in which we had to paraphrase. For our persuasive writing piece though, we looked over an argument that stated the negative effects pesticides have. The argument, I must be honest, wasn't actually that bad because the writer of it had a few points that made it seem as if pesticides were going to cause the end of the world. After we had finished we'd turn the page over and do some questions. Questions like figure out what the thesis is, what are the main arguments? Find places where the writer anticipates the arguments of those pesticides, and so on. Don't forget that we also did paraphrasing. (Worst Transitional Sentence)
A few classes later, about 1-2, he gave us a speech from, as said before, by Abh. Lincoln. In the beginning it talks about how over 8 decades ago America was founded by it's past fathers, which they'd developed it in a way of ensuring that the people was strong for it's country, and so on. Remember that it was an old speech, spoken in a unique vocabulary, well not that unique but you probably get the point...it was old. It was a perfect for kids to paraphrase. A little random fact about paraphrasing for those who don't know, but everyone who reads/hears it will now, but paraphrasing is a medium sized step away from plagiarizing. So it could be helpful to those who don't want to plagiarize, but have no idea how to avoid it. It helped me because now that I look back I feel as if my old work, from various subjects, was dangerously close to plagiarism.

Religion Test

Religion Test
2 weeks ago, Mrs. Sosnowski told us that we were having a test on Chapters 18, 20, and 21. In chapter 18, the key points are about the laity, different vocations and 3 goods that laity is called to use (wealth, sexuality and independence). In chapter 20, the key points are about purposes of civil society, nationalism, treason and different values as Christians. In the last Chapter that we had to study from, talks about eternal, physical, moral, natural and revealed laws. It also talks about ecclesiastical laws, precepts of the church and the 3 different consciences (true, lax and scrupulous). Concepts that will be on the test are:

  • ·         Diagram (eternal laws)

  • ·         Fill in the blanks

  • ·         Short answer

Everything we covered from chapter 18, 20, and 21 will be on the test. The test will be on May 26, 2014.
