The Raven

The Raven
Alex Lannon 8A
In ELA class we read a poem called “The Raven”. In this poem a man, who was not named, is reading a book when he hears a knocking sound on his door. He goes to investigate and opens the door to find nothing but darkness there. So he goes back to his seat only to hear something on his window. He goes to investigate only to find a raven.

He starts saying that the raven came from Night's Plutonian shore which is the shore to the underworld. The raven responds always with “Nevermore”. The man is startled by this and starts yelling at the bird saying things like “Prophet, thing of evil” or “Wretch, God hate thee”. Then the poem just ends, the story doesn’t really resolve. Usually Edgar Allen Poe's poems are a little scarier, this one is pretty mild. Maybe people were scared easier back in the 1800’s?

Intermurals

Intermurals
Jin Bin 8A
Every day 6, we have intermurals. In intermurals, we can get the chance to stay inside and play sport(s), such as basketball, volleyball, dodge ball, soccer, and many others that will come in the future. Intermurals are during lunch time, so we eat in the gym. It lasts 45 minutes, from 12:15pm to 1:00pm. We have to have gym clothes here, in order to be able to go to intermurals.

This Halloween, we would be doing a Halloween Hunt and Hustle. We would go around the school and follow the clues on a piece of sheet that you have to answer. Only the Grade 7’s and 8’s are allowed to do it. Everyone who participates needs to pay an additional $1 to play. This would add up to the Christmas in October Funds to our sponsor children.
