Helen Unit Math Test April 10

Math Unit Test
The math unit test will be on ratios, rates, and proportional reasoning. The test will be on April 7, 2014. For ratios you will need to know that there will be two-term ratio, three term ratios, part to whole ratios, and part-to-part ratios on the test. For rates you will also need to know a rate is a comparison of 2 qualities measured in different units. A rate cannot be expressed as a percent because a percent is a ratio that compares qualities expressed in the same unit. A rate cannot be expressed as a percent because a percent is a ratio that compares qualities.
A unit rate is a rate in which the second term is 1.Porportional reasoning is when two qualities always have the same relative size. On the test there will be short answer, long answer, multiple choice, and matching. For the short answers there will be rate problems. You will also need to bring a pencil, loose leaf, a calculator, and an eraser. Good Luck!!!

ReliGion

In religion this year we are learning to be good people and not be a disappointment and aslo learning how to spell things in class correctly. I am skipping this because I treat it as the storage you don't get. we are learning about THE Saints and the or some of the sacraments. And (I think ) we have a test for the last few chapters also we are is having project in science.
I did my home work yesterday and it was for religion (yeah i can use that)

We had home work it was about the church of the last 1000 years and for this one I had my textbook and I did during french. So I did all or most of my homework and I lost my USB . And in the homework there was saints. Also I am still looking for it.

SS Project - Egypt Poems

Our class was assigned a new project in Social Studies yesterday (on April 7th, 2014). We must invent a cinquain and title poem. Ms. Costanzo has done this project before, but this time around we have to build a 3-D scene on what our poems are about. In previous years, the students simply had to draw a picture of their poem. The due date is on April 29th, and the outline and marking rubric has not been created. It would be a good idea to begin working on finishing this project early, as we have another project coming up in Health.

The poems we write must both be on one topic about Egypt. The topic must be a noun. The first type of poem, cinquain, must have five lines. The first being the topic, the second with two adjectives describing it, the third including three verbs ending with the suffix -ing, the fourth having a sentence that describes your chosen topic, and, lastly, the fifth a synonym for your subject. Your second poem, the title poem, consists of the same number of lines as the amount of letters your topic consists of. In order to spell your topic, each line should begin with the next letter of your subject. Once you have finished your poems, it would be a good idea to get it checked by Ms. Costanzo.

3 weeks ago from now some grade 7’s and 8’s went to Camp Arnes and I was one of them. We boarded the bus and left at about 6:10. The drive was long but it was fun to talk to people and walk back and forth in the bus. For most of the bus ride there Sukhsagar, Kim, Sharin, Ranch, Angelica, Jaira, Amy, Keegan and I talked for the most part and played games. When we arrived we packed our things in our rooms then we went out for hockey on the lake for an hour. After that we went swimming then we went back to the chalet to watch Olympus has fallen. Then we went straight to bed.

The next day we had breakfast, Snowshoeing/Skiing, Lunch, ice fishing, orienteering, dinner, /hockey/tobogganing, Movie (Frozen), swimming then lights-out. The last day was just a repeat of the first except we didn’t do orienteering or ice fishing. In between the days we had group challenges in the chalet like hidden meanings, mazes, and hula hooping contests to win a team pizza party. They were for teams. Team SOS, Team Marks, Team Patel, and Team Milko.
A lot of “interesting” things happened on this trip but I think it was a pretty good trip.

Grade 9
Mr sagriottis came to talk to us about  grade 9. In his presentation he told us about the differences in grade 9. Some differences are in high school we need 30 credits to graduate, to get  a credit you need to pass all of your classes, and you have extra credit classes. At the end of his presentation Mr Sagriotis gave us a grade 9 info booklet.
There are lots of things that differentiates st maurice from other high school. The average st maurice student graduates with 30.5 credits. St Maurice students are well prepared for university. At st maurice there is a business course that you can take, and at the end you receive a certificate. The student size is smaller so it is easier to be taught by teachers. Over all St Maurice seems like a great high school

Science

Blog Post
Science
On Monday, February 10th we were assigned a Science disorder project. In this project we are supposed to choose one illness/disorder and talk about it in front of the class. It will have to be a presentation that is about 10 minutes long and has to have the following:

  • Brief description of the disease/disorder
  • Causes
  • Symptoms
  • Diagnosis
  • Treatments
  • Prognosis
  • Current research being done
  • General statistics
The presentation can be put on slideshows, posters, or even prezi.  You will have to explain what the disorder is about, what the causes are about the illness, the symptoms to look out for, its diagnosis, treatments that can help a person with the disease, how everyday people live their life with it, research on how they will try to cure the disease, and the disease's general statistics. In this project we also had the decision to choose a partner if we would like or if we wanted to go solo on the presentation. This project will/was due on Friday, February 28th.
