A Christmas Carol

A Christmas story
In Ela class we are reading a novel called a Christmas carol. The author of the book is an English man named Charles dickens. He has written a lot of timeless classic that are still popular today. Some of his books have influences on holidays such as Christmas, the book a Christmas carol specifically.

The book is about a man named Ebenezer scrooge. Scrooge seems like a very frightening and evil person, he won’t keep his counting house warm, he hates Christmas, he does not donate to charity, and he even finds his nephew (his only relative) an annoyance. Then one night scrooge is visited by the ghost of his old dead friend Jacob Marley. Marley tells him that he would be visited by three ghosts on three different nights. Who are those ghosts I don’t know, but to find out whom they are and if scrooge will change you have to read the rest of the book.

ICT Blog Post
Art
In Art class we are going to be making 3 projects which are:
  •   The Canada Day poster

  •   Calligraphy/Decorative Poster

  •   Story Comic Book

The Canada Day Posters we are making have the same concept as last year. On the Canada Day poster we have to draw 20 pictures that represent Canada (maple leaf, CN tower, beavers etc.) This poster (with our choice) will be entered into a contest, which is Canada wide. Hopefully, one of us wins.
For the decorative poster we are given a big piece of paper and we have the option to do the writing in calligraphy pen, or just do decorative writing. In the decorative poster we have to write for example a prayer, a poem, or a few lyrics from a song. Then after we sketched in pencil where we want our writing to be placed, we then start doing the decorative writing/calligraphy.
The last thing we were assigned to do was the, Story comic book. For the story comic book we have to create a comic or remake a comic from a book, the bible, or from reality. This comic book is similar to the one we did last year, from the Bible (mustard seed, 7 days of creation.)
The due dates for these assignments depend on us; most likely we should finish 2 before Christmas break and one assignment due next year.

Volleyball Test

We will be having a volleyball test on Friday December 9, 2013. The topics the test will be on is equipment, skills, returning the ball, Faults and penalties, most common faults, positions of the court, and referee gestures.

·       You need to know that there are two teams of six on either side of the net rallying a ball back and forth.
·      Object of the game is to hit the ball over the net so that it lands on the other teams side on the floor, in bound.
·      When the ball contacts the ground a point is scored for the team that made it hit the ground.

You will also need to know the end line, sideline, attack line, and centerline of a court. Some equipment you will need to know is a ball, kneepads, court shoes, and a net. Some skills you will need to know is serving overhand and underhand you can serve anywhere from behind the end line and the ball must be in bounds to play. For returning the ball you may use a forearm pass, set, spike, or tip a team is allowed three contracts before sending the ball over the net to the opponent.

For faults and Penalties officials make sure the game is played fairly. If you break a rule, you committed a fault. Most common fault are if you allow the ball to touch the floor, you hold or throw the ball, touch the ball twice in a row. Positions number 1 is always the serving position when you first line up on the court. Some referee gestures are point, rotation, end of game, and time out.
